چکیده

o trial fibrillation (AF) is a rapidly evolving epidemic repesenting a multifactorial, dynamic disorder with different nderlying substrates and serious health consequences (1). growing body of evidence indicates that, apart from the riggers, AF development and perpetuation depends on the lectrical and structural remodeling of the atria (2,3). urrently, the role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone ystem in AF is under intensive investigation (4), whereas uch of the current interest regarding pharmacologic therpy has shifted to nonchannel-blocking drugs with pleioropic properties including agents interfering in the reninngiotensin-aldosterone system (2,4,5).

New manifestations of electrophysiological remodeling of heart during experimental model of atrial fibrillation in cirrhotic rat isolated heart

Introduction: The present study is aimed to evaluate electrophysiological remodeling of atrioventricular (AV) node and ventricular conduction during experimental atrial fibrillation (AF) model in isolated heart of cirrhotic rats. Methods: Cirrhosis-induced electrophysiological remodeling was evaluated in 24 isolated retrogradely perfused rat hearts in 2 groups (control and cirrhotic). Cirrho...

Increased IL-17A in Atrial Fibrillation Correlates with Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio

Background: Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and an independent risk factor for stroke among the elderly. A role for inflammation in the atrial remodeling as well as development and recurrence of AF is known. Objective: To compare IL-17A between patients with different types of AF and healthy individuals. Methods: IL-17A was measured in sera of 112 patients and 107...

Atrial remodeling in persistent atrial fibrillation: the potential role of aldosterone.

Atrial remodeling in persistent atrial fibrillation: the potential role of aldosterone We read with considerable interest the report by Ueng et al., 1 which aimed to demonstrate the beneficial effects of enalapril on maintenance of sinus rhythm after cardioversion of persistent atrial fi-brillation. The authors conclude that inhibition of the renin–angiotensin system may favourably affect atria...

Assessment of P-wave indices as atrial fibrillation predictors in psoriasis patients

Background: Psoriasis is a prevalent chronic T cell mediated inflammatory skin disorder. Recent studies have reported an increase in the incidence of arrhythmia in psoriasis patients who run an excessive risk of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases. P-wave dispersion (PWD) and duration are important electrocardiographic (ECG) markers employed to anticipate the risk of atrial arrhythmi...
